Come Follow Me Sketchnotes: May 2020

Hello, sketchnotes friends! I’m so glad you’re here. It makes me so very happy that these doodles of mine are helpful to you in your scripture study. I receive messages thanking me for them regularly and every single time it makes my day. Thank you!

I’m trying something a little different this month. I have been working super hard the past few weeks to get ALL of the sketchnotes pages for the entire month of May ready to release at once. Yay!

It’s always a labor of love to put theses pages together, and I am so incredibly grateful that I have the opportunity to share them with you. I have been praying and brainstorming ways to continue to be able to provide this service for you and received a bit of inspiration on that this past month.

I am going to be offering sketchnotes on a pay-what-you-can basis. Yes, you can still download them for free. But if you are able to contribute a small amount to help cover the hours it costs me to study + draw as well as the cost to maintain this website, I would be so, so grateful.

It means a lot to me that you are able to download these pages for free if needed. I know what it’s like to be on an extremely tight budget. Please don’t feel guilty if you can’t pay anything! If you find these sketchnotes useful and are in a position to contribute, I am grateful. Thank you.

What is changing about A Lively Hope Sketchnotes?

  • Pages are now available in a monthly download, ready all at once at the beginning of the month (download is at the bottom of this post)
  • I have included a separate calendar page with daily scripture readings for your family (these are the same verses I list on the website, just in a printable version for you to print out and check off as you go)
  • Pay What You Can. You can set your own price! If you want to pay nothing, change the price to $0, and you’re all set!
  • All the files for the month will be delivered to your email address in a zip folder. Most likely you will not be able to open this on your phone. Please open it on a computer and print from there.

HOW TO USE BOOK OF MORMON sKETCHNOTES:

TRACE. You can also trace these into your scriptures or journal using a light box or a sunny window.  My husband made me an awesome lightbox, but this one is a great option for you to purchase.

COLORING PAGE. Use as a coloring page for your kids to work on during family scripture time.  Write additional notes and insights on the pages as you go. You could add all the completed sketchnotes pages to a binder to keep as a reminder of the gospel topics you’ve discussed together.

STICKER PAPER. Print on clear sticker paper and cut apart the doodles to add to your scripture journal or into the margins of your scriptures.  (This year I am usinga wide-margin study edition of the Book of Mormon from Line Upon Line.  Our family is using their Journaling Edition for our study together as well. But there are so many wide-margin options available! Deseret Book has several great options and you can print this free PDF and have it bound at a local copy shop.)

Printing on clear sticker paper allows you to add color to the doodles using colored pencils, but still be able to see the words beneath them.  I have tried out a few different kinds of colored pencils on this sticker paper.  Ergosoft pencils and Prismacolor pencils work really well.
