My Traveler’s Notebook Bullet Journal Setup
How I’m using a Traveler’s Notebook as a bullet journal, commonplace book, gratitude journal, scripture journal and daily task list.
Like many of you, I’ve got a lot on my plate. Home tasks, work tasks, homeschool, family stuff, community and church responsibilities, ideas and things I want to do. Places to go, people to see. You know how it is.
I live and die by my planner. If I don’t write something down, it will (most likely) not happen. For years I’ve used a traditional bullet journal, and I love that system. But I recently discovered that some aspects of it were not working for me, so this year I decided to switch things up a bit.
I am using a Traveler’s Notebook (this awesome kit) with different inserts for
- Daily Tasks: I created this booklet myself, and you can see it in better detail in the video below. It consists of 5 small sections that I can use however I need to block my time, separate tasks by categories, or whatever method fits best that day. It also includes a checklist of the tasks I try to complete each day (or at least most days), a place for menu planning and a little notes section. This works really well for me!
- Bullet Journal: This is where I make lists of future projects, video/blog post ideas, etc.
- Gratitude Journal/Commonplace notebook: Currently I love having these two combined into one notebook. Each day I try to write three things I’m grateful for and I love having notes from books/podcasts/Sunday services mixed in with the daily gratitude. I feel like it paints a picture of my life in the moment.
- General Conference journal: This is where I am studying general conference addresses from the most recent sessions of conference.
- Inklings: I am also studying along with Emily Belle Freeman as part of her Inklings study group in preparation for April 2020 General Conference. I have a notebook devoted to that study as well.
One of the things I’m loving about this current system is that I only need to keep what is important to me. I liked having everything in one place with my bullet journal, but I didn’t like that my messy to-do lists that I had not desire to hang on to long-term, were mingled in with pretty journal pages and notes that I did want to keep.
With a traveler’s notebook I still have them all in one place, but since they are in separate inserts, I can recycle the to-do lists and hang on to the commonplace book. It’s been working really well so far!
Do you have a planning system that you love? Tell me all about it!
