This week’s video is a little different than what I normally make: I’m sharing my planner stack for 2025. I’m all about functional planning. Nothing against that if you love a highly decorated look, but my planner is not one of my hobbies, it’s just where I attempt to keep everything that I need to do straight.
I’m a big fan of hybrid planning (a mix of digital and paper). I use google calendar like my life depends on it (it does), I use spreadsheets for long-term planning (holidays, content etc.) , Goodreads for book tracking and a paper planner for day to day tasks.
This will be my second year in a Laurel Denise planner and in the video I share how I used the vertical version for 2024 and my plans for improvements and changes using a horizontal planner in 2025.
I also have a travelers notebook setup for keeping track of ideas, messy lists and taking notes.
This is my final video and my final newsletter for the year. I’m looking forward to a real, actual break this holiday season. I’m not very good at taking breaks, and unfortunately being a working artist means that I can make myself believe I should be working all the time.
I’m determined to step away from social media and other online responsibilities in order to refill my tank, try out some new ideas, read lots of books and have down time with my people. I’ve finished two books in the last 24 hours, so we’re off to a good start! We’re not traveling at all for the holidays which is different for us. I’m hoping we find a nice balance between fun close-to-home adventures and open restful days.
Thank you for being here! I’m grateful for you and your support. I’m sending you joyful vibes for a beautiful holiday season.
On My Desk:
Trying out some new ideas, spending more time in my sketchbook and attempting to clean up in between projects.
What I’ve been reading:
We just finished The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. It was a re-read, but my younger kids didn’t remember it at all. What a delightful story! Looking forward to seeing the movie soon.
I also read James by Percival Everett this week. It lived up to the hype for me, which I’m always worried about with a buzzy book. It was heartbreaking and beautifully but simply written. I hugged it when I finished.
Here’s to making the time for the things we love to do!
Heidi
I really liked your planner video. I have used Laurel Denise this year and I am preparing the January set up this week. I enjoyed your flexibility and willingness to keep things that are a constant but try new ways when they plan doesn’t serve you.
Heidi, I just looked through your cute Etsy shop. Such talent that you share there! I will be sure to come back to it for my next project, and send it on to my daughters for their projects! Merry Christmas 🎄
