Hey friends!
First of all, above is a Delicate Arch piece I recently finished. It’s made of felted wool and embroidery details. Don’t you love it when artwork turns out just the way it looks in your head?
I currently have a display full of art and embroidery kits and TONS of felt ornaments at Utah Art Market in Salt Lake City. If you’re local (or local-ish) you should definitely try to make it out to see all the incredible artwork available. It runs all this week, through Saturday evening (December 7th).
In other news, this week I shared on YouTube a project that I’ve been meaning to get to for a long time. My Commonplace Journal (or…I guess index cards would be more accurate).
As a teenager I spent a lot of time collecting quotes and organizing them in a similar way to this. I’ve since lost or misplaced, or (heaven forbid!) gotten rid of that original index card box and I’ve been meaning to start a new one for a long time. I’m so happy that I finally got to it!
Here are all the details:
On My Desk:
After months of making and preparation, we’re in the home stretch for markets this season. I’m looking forward to a couple of weeks off at the end of December! I have so many ideas I want to try and I’m looking forward to resting and resetting our rhythms for homeschooling, home keeping, etc.
Around Here
Reading:
I’ve found myself in need of some comfort reads these past few weeks. I saved Love & Saffron by Kim Fay to read on Thanksgiving and found it to be exactly what I needed. Sweet and moving with a focus on friendships, love and food. It was the perfect book to read all in one sitting, which I did!
Olivetti by Allie Millington also came to me at just the perfect time. It’s been on my radar for a while but I finally dove in on a recent trip and it was delightful.
Watching:
We’ve been watching the latest season of The Great British Baking Show, along with probably everyone on the planet. It never disappoints! We have also been introducing our younger kids to Mythbusters and they are big fans!
Listening:
I’m just beginning to listen to Christmas music. This God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen // We Three Kings mashup is my forever favorite Christmas song. I listen to it first every single year.
Here’s to making the time for the things we love to do!
